National Volunteer Week (April 21-27, 2024)

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, we recognize the important impact volunteers have on our communities and the world at large. Volunteers embody the spirit of compassion and generosity, dedicating their time, energy, and skills to their communities and causes bigger than themselves. Volunteers are often the unsung heroes who work diligently behind the scenes, driving positive change and making an impact – seen and unseen. Lower Macungie Library has an outstanding team of volunteers who dedicate hundreds of hours each year to keep books on the shelves and in our patron’s hands. In honor of countless volunteers everywhere, we've curated a booklist to inspire our community members to explore the diverse ways in which they can contribute. Through these true and fictionalized stories, we salute our volunteers and all those who have served, past and present.
