A day of fallen night
Samantha Shannon.
Format:

Read May 2023 Predictable and drawn out It’s bizarre to read a book with so many characters in which the author has no idea how to write a straight love story. I was a bit disgusted with the way having children was described. This author must not have any. Would not recommend.

The Rosie result
Graeme Simsion.
Format:

Finished 5/1/23 Not exactly the ending I expected, but it pulled it all together. Helps one appreciate the intricacies of parenting and the familial patterns that one has to work to break.

Garden spells
Sarah Addison Allen.
Format:

Finished 4/18/23 A fast read, I appreciate a happy ending

The perfectionist's guide to losing control
Katherine Morgan Schafler.
Format:

Finished 4/16/23 A bit of a slog, helpful at times Definitely a bit contradictory, not enough acknowledgement of “in between”

The Rosie effect
Graeme Simsion.
Format:

Finished 4/1/23 Not as funny as the original But heartwarming nonetheless

Sea of Tranquility
Emily St. John Mandel.
Format:

Finished 3/29/23 Disjointed and strange, the lack of character development makes it difficult to enjoy. Totally unbelievable, even supposing it’s “science fiction”. People won’t commute to the moon yet still go to physical book signings and carry coins. An obvious pandemic novel - this is probably a new genre - pandemic fiction. I’m not a fan. Dystopian is probably the right word.

Sapiens
Yuval Noah Harari.
Format:

Finished 3/23 Interesting and thought-provoking A bit depressing toward the end, for all the history it begins with, the ending is highly speculative

The priory of the orange tree
Samantha Shannon.
Format:

Finished 3/12/23 Epic but anticlimactic, the ending seemed rushed for such a long (sometimes drawn out story) I found myself not liking any of the characters

The Rosie project
Graeme Simsion.
Format:

Finished 3/5/23 Hilarious and heartwarming Read in less than 2 days

I am Malala
Malala Yousafzai with Patricia McCormick.
Format:

Finished 3/2/23 Tragic
