The maze runner
Dashner, James, 1972-
Format:

This is a fun, fast-paced action book. A quick and enjoyable read for anyone who likes YA.

Speak : the graphic novel
Anderson, Laurie Halse, author.
Format:

This timely version of Anderson's modern-day YA classic is the story of a girl who can't find the voice to tell anyone about having been raped by one of the popular boys at her high school. It's heavy stuff, but age-appropriate for 13 and up, and it translates beautifully into graphic novel format with visual metaphors conveyed through Carroll's stark black-and-white illustrations.

An absolutely remarkable thing : a novel
Green, Hank, author.
Format:

A stunning and recent debut that interweaves a fun sci-fi mystery with a serious and well-executed reflection on modern day fame, the social internet, and the ultimate nature of humanity.

The deathday letter
Hutchinson, Shaun David.
Format:

I like the book because even though you know the ending of the book, you are still curious to how it is going to happen.

Lethal white
Galbraith, Robert, author.
Format:

J.K. Rowling's latest Cormoran Strike crime novel under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith is a big book--650 pages--but so gripping I tore through it. Not only is it a twisty mystery set in London during the 2012 Olympics, but it is another installment in the ongoing relationship between Strike and his partner Robin Ellacott. Highly recommended!

Borne
VanderMeer, Jeff, author.
Format:

This post-apocalyptic tale, despite leaving the reader distressed over the world, has a vein of hope running through it.
